Here's another possible thought - what are everyone's comments on having personalized builds free if compiled/updated once a week, and cost a dollar or so to have them compiled more often? I have a second poll up on the right asking users whether they'd rather pay to have the build compiled more than once a week, or have ads on the site. As you can see, I'm trying to avoid having ads on the site at all costs, but I'm leaving it up to the users to decide. I'll be able to start the customized builds the day I have my DSL service back, which should hopefully be within the next few days.
I'm still getting ready to do a rebuild, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to test it, as I have to use dialup right now, because I'm still without DSL service. SSH is a lot slower as well, but hopefully I can get the build updated soon.
Just a random thought, but I figure I might as well ask. Since people can't agree on whether or not to have new/old keymaps, whether or not to include (insert plugin name here), etc., would it be worth allowing users to create their own personal builds, with only patches of their choosing, their own boot logo, etc? The build wouldn't be updated immediately with SVN, but either every other day (maybe less) or upon request. As I said, it's just a random thought, but I think it could be worthwhile. Comments?
Edit: There's a poll on the right to decide whether or not I should charge for these personalized builds
I plan to rebuild the build later today (haven't for a while, and the build probably stopped updating). Changes that I'm planning to make are:
Remove the NES plugin - it's way too slow to do much anything
Add Video menu - What about Photos as well?
7593
8308 maybe
Don't include custom plugins in the build, but only on site. This would mean that the rock files would simply need to be downloaded and saved onto the player, but I'm not sure how well this will work. Comments on this would be appreciated.
8285 maybe - the idea is good, but I'm not sure how much it'd be used. Another example (IMO) why it'd be good to keep the custom plugins available on the site, versus always in the build.

Keep in mind...I'm going to be using this list as my todo list. If you have something that you want added that isn't in the build yet, and it isn't in the list above, let me know so I can take a look at it.
I'll be rebuilding probably in about two (maybe three) hours from now, so hopefully that will give users some time.
Just a heads up - there's quite a bit of talk in IRC right now about various WPS patches being rejected soon, such as FS#5900. This is because the tracker is meant to be for patches that are trying to get in to the official build, and with viewports coming soon, those patches won't be needed. The problem is, people can't decide if it's best to close those patches now so new patches can be worked on, or to wait until viewports are ready, and then close them. Feel free to voice your opinion in IRC (http://rockbox.org/irc for a web client) but don't start ranting.
For those of you who keep an eye on the full build, you will notice that, starting with the last update, the pacbox roms won't be in it. This is because a few people mentioned that because those roms were copyrighted, I couldn't legally distribute them. The roms can be found on Google though, and you can find the search terms from http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginPacbox?rev=12 (Rockbox staff (or anyone else): If you don't want me mentioning the revision number, let me know)
I just finished a rebuild, which hopefully should fix the WPS bugs from last time. If anyone has any problems, please let me know.
The build was just rebuilt, so most of the bugs that were in it should be fixed. I plan to test the build on the simulator tonight, and on my Sansa tomorrow morning.
Sorry for what was probably close to eight hours of downtime, but the server move finished about an hour ago, and the site just came back online. Sadly, I was interrupted last night, and didn't get a chance to link to backups. While I really doubt the site will be down this long again, if anyone is willing to mirror the downloads, feel free to let me know.
