Anti-aliased fonts are now fixed and should be working properly, after kugel gave me a sync'd patch that seemed to work a lot better.
All fonts from http://savannah.gnu.org/download/freefont/ were converted into three different sizes: 15, 10, and 8, and can be found at http://chrisjs.com/fnt . I plan to implement a way to have fonts converted on the site, in case any other ttf fonts are wanted.

Thanks for the update.
Any chance of adding size 13? 10 seems small on Sansa while 15 seems big.
And, would love to be able to convert fonts, as you said.

I'm in the process of moving all my emails around at the moment, but I'll try to get size 13 converted tonight.

Size 13 is converted - it can be found in the same place (http://chrisjs.com/fnt )

Thank you.
Free Sans Bold 13 is a perefect match. It shows the menu completely, in one 'page'.

I wonder if someone is looking into a patch to display fonts as cleartype instead of just AA. That would be cool.

How do you make anti-aliased fonts?

I run it through a custom converter. Give me the link to the TTF font(s) and the font size(s) you want and I can convert them for you.

I don't need any, just wanted to experiment with it!

I'll try to find some.
Why do the lines look so spaced out?

You can test with the ones at http://chrisjs.com/fnt if you want.
I'd have to take a look at why the lines are spaced, but am using someone else's wifi right now due to my phone line being down.

Hey chris, I'd like to compile my own personal build using just the small handful of patches that I find useful, and I was just wondering where I could find the anti-alias patch? It is one of a very small number of patches I'd like to apply. If you could let me know where I could track it down it would be much appreciated

It was at http://sse2.net/rb/aa but it doesn't seem to be now. I'll see if I can get a copy of just that patch up, but I'm not entirely sure when I'll be able to do it, because of the holidays.

No problem, whenever you find the time!
