There's a need for a specific patch for that. And if it's causing slowdown, then it's not worth keeping it. Maybe double clicking the select button while a song is playing could bring you to this separate screen, where rating is done with scroll wheel. I now note that despite the fact that I have my Sansa set so that the first button press turns on the backlight, this doesn't happen any longer. It now takes a turn of the wheel to turn on the backlight. Believe it or not, this was the source of some consternation until I figured out the wheel part. Now... is this to do with the patch? Or was this something you'd had in the build before then? I can get used to anything but I'm not sure I like it this way.
