Your dedication and motivation to the project is obvious. If some of your users want to be thankful, it is just polite to let them. As long as you never ask for money, and graciously accept what is given, no matter what the amount, you will still always be a volunteer. If 10% of the users gave $1.00 you would have a new LCD. Paypal has a way to set this up for you if you look through the site. You get a button which will let folks send you money if they want to.
